Artful Thursday - "Happy Faces Bloom There"

It's that time again...Artful Thursday. This day seems to be creeping up on me each week. The morning arrives, I start to panic think about my project but can't get started because the first thing I do on Thursday mornings is volunteer at Aidan's motor skills class. Today, I rushed home and got started, but unfortunately didn't get it finished.

I'll share what I started. Today I worked on this mixed media collage. I started with an 8 x 10 canvas that I dry brushed with raw umber acrylic paint. I then glued vintage sheet music using Modge Podge. Using acrylic paints, I painted cherry blossom branches. I then glued a scrap of embroidered vintage linen and an image of a bird that I cut out from a vintage children's book. At this point, I ran out of steam . It's a good start though and I'm happy with it thus far. Feels good to be pulling out the stash, brushing off the dust, and working with it. A nice sense of creative productivity, exactly what I was hoping for when I took on the Artful Thursday challenge.

  1. Nice start on that project! I've been seeing so much use of music sheets in Artful Thursdays, I may just have to dig out some myself for something. I can't wait to see how you finish this.
