Art Work Pride

One of the fun things about going to preschool is all the great craft projects the boys get to do. Miles is especially proud of his artwork. He makes sure I bring it home everyday. It's become a standard conversation on our way out of preschool, Miles will say " Mommy, Mommy, my artwork." and I'll respond, "Yes, Miles I have your artwork." He'll respond with a huge smile and will often ask to carry it home. When we get home he wants to talk about his current art project and loves listening to positive feedback, "Oh it's fabulous, I love the colors, Great work Miles etc. etc". He just beams with pride. Miles, our little artist.

Growing Up

Today was Aidan's preschool graduation. The preschoolers entered the ceremony to "Pomp and Circumstance March" in their small cap and gowns. It was the sweetest sight, it brought tears to my eyes. They sang songs, and did a sound off, played harmonicas, and past off their batons to the incoming Giraffe class. They were handed a diploma, with a gift (photo album with photos of them throughout the year, and a kindergarten storybook), presented the teachers with their gifts (the memory books) and ended with a cake celebration. It was all so formal and adult like, I was pleasantly surprised. Aidan was happy to have not only us there, but his Grandma & Grandpa and little brothers too. I over heard him telling his friend " my little brothers are here, and my Grandma and Grandpa too!"

Aidan was showered with gifts, Rheneas (Thomas Train character), new bridge for his train table, Thomas shirt, red crocs and dinner at one of his favorite places, Elephant Bar. I'm sure he thought it was a great day. And for me it was bitter sweet, a reminder of just how fast my baby boy is growing up. I often have to remind myself that he's not a toddler anymore, he truly is a little boy now. So hard to believe that in just a few month he will be starting kindergarten.

Teacher's Memory Pages

With Aidan's preschool coming to an end and his graduation just a week away, there's a series of projects and activities the parents are working on for teacher appreciation week. We had to put together 5 memory pages (4 teachers and the director) which will be compiled with the other kids to make memory books for each teacher. These will be presented to them as thank you gifts on graduation day. So I chose a couple of pictures of Aidan and had Aidan give me a quote regarding what he liked about each teacher. One project done, several more to go...

Luau

Today, Max and I attended Aidan's annual preschool luau. The kids dress up in outfits they made and perform a series of songs and chants. Aidan being his shy self appeared stunned with stage fright however, towards the end of the program he was warming up to the crowd. He even had a part in one of the performances where he faced the rest of his classmates holding up a sign to cue through the song. The boys did a Hawaiian chant that left us impressed. Following the performance we watched a volcano erupt (baking soda and vinegar with orange dye) then the parents got to hang out and indulge in food with the kids. Fun festivities for all.
