Passing Me By
Life's been passing me by for the past couple of months. I've just felt exhausted, barely able to keep up with my day to day tasks with very little energy to do anything extra. As you've noticed, no energy for a little blogging. I'm almost always in the middle of a good book, reading before bedtime, but lately I've just not had the energy for that either. It took 5 weeks of feeling this way before I decided I needed to see the doctor ( that and I noticed i was shedding much more hair than I was comfortable with). It turns out I'm severely anemic. A trip to Pharmaca and now I'm taking a horse dose of iron in hopes to take care of this without IV infusion. Two weeks into it, can't say I'm feeling much better but I'm hopeful. In the meantime I'm just trying to keep up with the holidays. I'll be posting a recap of all that's been happening here, just trying to catch up.

Pink Eye Now - Are You Serious!?

The boys now have pink eye, officially known as conjunctivitis, along with a new set of colds. Yes, I'm serious, they're sick again. It's like a long running bad joke. The boys have literally been sick since they started preschool in November with just a few scattered days within where they were ailment free. It's so frustrating and lets not forget exhausting too. Not only is there lost sleep, extra loads of laundry, and trips to the doctors but there's the psychological torment that comes with it too. The "oh no, please don't let me catch it" anxiety, the "I'm just out of TLC" guilt, the "we cant see our friends again" isolation, and the "I just don't understand why you're sick again" melancholy bordering depression. Let's hope they recover from this soon.

Blogging Hiatus
Well it's been an unplanned blogging hiatus and I'm surprised to how much time has gone by. Wish I could say we I haven't been blogging because we've been having just a very busy fabulous time with all kinds of great activities but the truth of it all is that we've been sick. First was a stomach flu that plowed through 4 family members in 48 hours leaving us wiped out, and now boys are sick again with bad colds, lots of yucky congestion, coughing spasms leading to vomitting and just overall low energy. I guess this is what happens when you start a new school, lots of new germs to be had too! MIles in Liam started preschool this past week and instantly became ill, bummer. The one highlight during this blogging hiatus, was a mommy trip to the spa to celebrate a friend's 40th birthday....stay tuned, blog entry about this grand ol time to come soon!

The Trick's On Us
It's been really busy around here with lots of activity leading up to Halloween. Most recently we had some friends over for pumpkin carving and butternut squash lasagna dinner, mmm one of my favorite meals of the Fall season.
We had an early Halloween celebration at Miles and Liam's day care which included their last day at daycare celebration.
We had dinner with friends, supporting Aidan's school fundraiser, Red Boy pizza with %15 of the proceeds going back to the school.
I did lots of prep work for Aidan's kindergarten Halloween party, made these fun treat bags,
baked these yummy cupcakes
using this yummy recipe from Everyday Food. Was so excited to go to Aidan's Halloween parade and class party but....this is when things took a turn for the worse. Night before the party, Liam is suddenly overcome by a stomach flu. It's been two nights of no sleep, one late afternoon visit to the doctor and multiple clothing and bedding changes. I've lost count of how many loads of laundry we've had to do. And yet worse, we've had to cancel Miles and Liam's birthday party which was scheduled for Nov 1st. Thankfully I was able to cancel the cake order with no cancellation fees. Now we're on the road to recovery. Hoping you all have a Happy Halloween with lots of yummy treats!
Update: just as a I thought we were on the mend, Miles is now vomitting :(

Cooties Over Here
Well first it was Miles, then a day later it was Mommy, followed by Aidan and soon after Liam. We've all come down with fever, chills, nausea, some vomiting and a terrible cough. Surprisingly, Daddy is still holding strong. I took Miles to the doctor who also diagnosed him with an ear infection on top of the flu we currently have. It's so hard to believe a flu in August. So we've all been home, daddy stayed home from work today too to help, thank you! I don't think I could have managed by myself. Despite us being plagued by this awful virus, the boys managed to have some fun still. Liam decided an envelope makes the perfect new hat for him, this all gave us a little healing laugh.
