Happy Father's Day

Hope you all had a wonderful father's day. We tried to make Daddy's day special here. Breakfast out at Arizmendi, followed by a nice walk at the lake, picnic in the backyard for lunch and family over for fun hang out and BBQ dinner.

What We Like Wednesday: Daddy Our Hero

I've been thinking about Father's Day already so I'll continue with that thought and dedicate this Wednesday to our hero "Daddy". We absolutely love Daddy. One of his greatest qualities is that he is definitely a "take charge" kind of person who gets things done. You can count on him to follow through until the task is done. He's got lots of other great qualities and some not so good ones too, but this one is definitely shining right now.

If you've been reading my blog, you'll know that we recently had a most unfortunate event with grandma while on vacation in Spain. "Daddy",(Max) took charge and had every detail outlined and taken care of with a few delegations to me, mostly some translation and phone calls. But he made sure that every particular point had been taken care of. His follow through and attention to detail is one I'm most impressed with, whether it was dealing with medical care, support for grandpa, or the small stuff like cancelling their newspaper delivery, you could be assured that he'd already thought of it and outlined exactly how it would be taken care of. I know in an earlier post I said there were no heroes to this event but I've decided I need to take that back. Daddy truly is our HERO.

Still Extreme Sporting

Max went snow boarding today. He spent yesterday prepping for his trip, getting his gear together and waxing his board. I could just tell he was so excited for this trip. The past few years he hasn't been able to get much boarding in because of the kids but now that they're getting older we're seeing a little bit more freedom. We've always felt a bit guilty about leaving one or another alone with 3 kids, young kids that is, for long periods of time. As a result, we haven't ventured off solo very much. To be honest we also haven't venture with them as much as we would have liked either.

So now I encourage him to go off and do things he enjoys, but I have to admit this extreme sporting stuff makes me nervous. I worry that he might get injured while snow boarding then I'd have to not only care for the boys but help rehabilitate him too. And the thought of losing his help around here just makes me anxious, thinking that I would have to do everything solo for awhile makes me cringe. So when he says he wants to go snow boarding, or he would like to learn to ocean kayak, windsurf, or get a motorcycle I secretly panic with a smile on my face of course as I encourage him to explore his interests.

As for the snow, initially, we'd also planned to take a family trip to the snow this weekend but with Aidan's injured finger, we've had to postpone that trip and any other activities that risk him injuring/ re-opening his wound. So for now, we'll postpone the sledding and snowman building while Max continues to enjoy his thrill seeking activities.

Daddy Makes Yummy Meals

One thing we love about daddy is he sure can cook. Although his work schedule keeps him very busy, every once in awhile he decides to throw on his chef's hat and cook us a meal. This usually happens on weekends of course but, I love it when it happens and he sure has a knack of making something the kids enjoy too.




This last meal was a coconut curry shrimp and a yummy ginger pork stir fry. Lip smacking delicious.

Dad's Owie

So Max finally got his growing lump removed from his forehead. (fyi - he had this fatty tumor that was slowly getting bigger) Once removed, he had to get 4 stitches in it's place. The boys were just stunned by this and couldn't figure out what was wrong with daddy. They kept asking what is that? Do you have an owie? You ok daddy? It was sweet to see they were genuinely concerned albeit a bit scared too.

Happy Birthday Dear Daddy!

Today we celebrated daddy's birthday. Daddy got off of work early and attended the boys swim class. Today was Miles and Liam's first swim class so it was a treat to have daddy there as well as have daddy see the progress Aidan has been making in his swim class. After swim class it was dinner at one of our favorite Mexican Restaurants followed by a drive through a neighborhood that is famous for it's Christmas lights, then home for Tiramisu cake ( one of daddy's favorites) and presents. It sure was a nice day for all of us. Happy Birthday Dear Daddy!
